My expression of tihar

Image
Tihar, known as Deepawali and also the festival of lights. We worship Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth or fortune. It is a five days festival which comes soon after the Dashain festival.      My sister put a seven-coloured tika on our foreheads  and pray for their long lives and prosperity. We garland them and offered them good foods, sweets and fruits. In Kaag tihar, I gave some food to crow and worshipped it. The next day (Kukur tihar), I worshipped dog and gave some food to it. Similarly, the next day (Gai tihar and Laxmi Puja), I went to the temple and worshipped the cow in the morning whereas I decorated my house to welcome Laxmi the Goddess of wealth.  My sister put a seven-coloured tika on the foreheads of our brothers and pray for  long lives and prosperity.

My experience of dashain festival

During the month of Ashwin and Kartik , we all Nepalese people indulge in the biggest festival of the year, Dashain. Dashain is the longest and the most big festival in the Nepalese annual calendar, celebrated by Nepalese of all caste . On 24th of Ashwin, I helped my parents for sowing barley grass. I was very happy on that day.We brought Phulpati inside the house. I used to play swing (ping) . On 2nd of Kartik (Dashain), I received tika, jamara and blessings from elders of my family. And after that we went to my neighbour house and put tika.   I see many people these days are being extravagant in the name of celebrating this festival.
