lakhe dance

Lākhey  ( Nepal Bhasa : लाखे, lā-khé) (alternative spellings  Lākhe ,  Lākhay , लाखय्) is a demon in Nepalese folklore. He is depicted with a ferocious face, protruding fangs and mane of red or black hair. Lakhes figure prominently in traditional  Newar  culture of  Nepal Mandala . The Lakhe tradition is found in the  Kathmandu Valley  and other Newar settlements throughout  Nepal . [1] Lakhes are said to be demons who used to live in the forests and later became protectors to the townspeople. [2]  A female Lakhe is known as 

raksha bandhan

Raksha Bandhan , also  Rakshabandhan , [2]  or simply  Rakhi , [3]  is an annual festival observed on the  Indian subcontinent  and by many of its diaspora. [4] [5]  The festival is celebrated by many Hindus, [5]  Jains, [6]  and Sikhs. [7]  It is centred around the tying of a thread, talisman, or amulet on the wrist as a form of ritual protection. The ritualized protection against misfortune is principally between sisters and brothers but states Jack Goody, the ceremony also connotes "a symbol of mutual dependence and a mark of respect" between the brother and the sister. [8] [9]  The protection rites are also observed on this day between women and their male relatives and brother-like friends, [4]  priests and patrons, sometimes by individuals to real or potential benefactors.

Gai jatra

Gai Jatra, is a festival celebrated in Nepal, mainly in Kathmandu valley by the Newar community. The festival commemorates the death of people during the year and is generally celebrated in the month of [Bhadra |August–September.
